Get lucky through video games...
Eidos interactive created this vido game, Singles: Flirt up your life, which has the same basic concept as The Sims except for the minor fact that you're ultimate goal is trying to get the other person in bed with you. You can try out your moves in the game before you try it in the "real world". CNN has an article on it here.
The graphics for this game aren't that good, the screen shots don't show explicit detail of each person but you'll see how close you get to know the other person you're living with. The review says that after playing for awhile the couples get reptitive because they isn't much change from couple to couple.
Maybe this will replace calling those 1-900 numbers...;-)

Whoa. Blogger got a commenting system?
This is interesting though...they're actually advertising this as a test space for your moves? The whole thing with the sims and other social network types is that you can play it so much to replace the life you don't have in the real world =P Is this claiming to actually push you towards the real world? Are they claiming that their coded interactions are close enough to real life? I wonder if the people pass the Turing test.

I guess you can find a "friend" through friendster and orkurt and then go to know one another more using this game. I think if there was a VR version of this then it would be closer to real life. It seems this is just a user interface problem but once this is solved, I guess there is no reason to interact with the real world....I dunno if the people pass the Turing Test cuz if you're moves suck, you'll never complete the goal and thus you'll be using sucky moves that get you nowhere and never complete your goal...or something like that...
